St Bees

Welcome to St. Bees School Cumbria.

Founded in 1583, the school is set in the heart of St Bees Village in an outstanding, rural location on the edge of the Lake District on the Cumbrian coast. With approximately 300 students we are a co-educational day and boarding school, taking day pupils from 7-18 and boarders from 11-18. Our International Centre has pupils from all over the world and we also have an excellent Learning Support Unit (CReSTeD registered) for pupils with dyslexia and dyscalculia.

We are able to develop the individual talents of our pupils, concentrating on personal development and pastoral care.  We encourage and nurture academic excellence and offer a full and varied programme of sports, music and drama allowing each member of our school the opportunity to discover their strengths and gain maximum enjoyment from the facilities and care we offer.

We are particularly proud of our Golf Academy where we offer coaching to those pupils who are new to the game and an advanced programme for more experienced golfers.  Our PGA Golf Professional, Stuart Hemmings, is a full time member of Staff who has competed both at amateur and professional level since 1991.  Stuart delivers an exciting programme of activities both in the Academy and on our 9 hole golf course, situated in a spectacular coastal position only 5 minutes walk from School.
