ISGA Schools Matchplay Tournament

UK Finals

8th and 9th May 2007

After 100 school teams from all over the UK taking part in the knockout

stages the ISGA Schools Matchplay Tournament

15 Schools who had won in their region played in the Final at Hollins

Hall near Leeds.

The first day saw 40 to 50 mile an hour winds bearing in mind the course

is on the side of an exposed hill in the Yorkshire dales.

The competition was scratch stableford

Leading score after the first round was 39 points 3 under par from

David Gregory from Millfield. An amazing score considering the

conditions.

The Teachers were also competing for best stableford and best scratch

under handicap

During the first evening Trophies were presented to all the 15 regional

winners.

Teachers competition at the final went to

Nick Phillis from Kings Canterbury best stableford

Adam Williams from Oakham best gross

Both received Trophies, free 2ball vouchers to The Shire London and a

putting set

 

Day 2

The weather was calmer during the second day with a little rain at the

end of some of the competitors round.

Individual winners after 2 days

All pupils were awarded medals for reaching the finals

1st Henry Smart with 75 points 3 under par

Who was presented with his Trophy, Scotty Cameron Putter, 1 Dozen

balls and a free lesson at the Butch Harmon School of Golf

2nd David Gregory with 74 points 2 under par

Who was presented with his Trophy, laser putting aid, 1 Dozen balls and

a free lesson at The Butch Harmon School of Golf

3rd Oscar Sharpe with 73 1 under par

Who was presented with his Trophy, putting trainer and 1Dozen balls

1st School Trophy Millfield

Who received their Trophies and a fully fitted putting green courtesy of

Southwest greens to be installed at their school.

2nd School Trophy Campbell College Northern Ireland

Next years competition has been modified to include a plate

to be played for in a round robin for those teams knocked out

in the first and second round in each area
